I ‘Blue’ It…

Heya! July is in full swing which means we’re half way through plastic-free month and I have a couple of important tips to share before this month gets away from us.

Whether it’s to improve your health, cut out toxins, or just because you’re a planet saving saint… here’s 6 simple (and sexy) ways to go plastic-free in your house this month (and hopefully every month).

6 simple solutions to go plastic-free!

Another tip not mentioned in the post above, refillable cleaning supplies! I only use Branch Basics in our home. Everything from window cleaner, laundry and hard stuck on mildew or grease; Branch Basics has you covered. It works. It’s toxic free. It’s environmentally friendly.

Alright in addition to July being all about plastic-free, we’re also concluding our several weeks journey into the rainbow colors 🌈and their major benefits to your well-being!

So let’s wrap it up with what my 3 yr old, Liv, considers hands-down the “best color in the wholllllle wide world, forever!”.

We’re talking about indigo - those deep rich blueish-purple tones.

Blue/purple foods like grapes, blueberries, and blackberries contain antioxidants known as anthocyanidins.

These antioxidants have the greatest “punch” relative to other antioxidants, in terms of their ability to fight damaging free radicals

The anthocyanidin family of compounds acts to protect the brain and nervous system from stress injury. Eating them will help to nourish the INSIGHT system.

Blue/Purple Foods:

  • Blackberries

  • Blueberries

  • Boysenberries

  • Eggplant

  • Figs

  • Marionberries

  • Plums

  • Purple Cabbage

  • Purple Grapes

  • Purple Kale

  • Purple Potato

  • Raisins

So, How are We adding these critical foods to our daily plate?

Looking for ZERO Prep:

Add to a bowl: grass-fed yogurt, with cinnamon + loads of blackberries, blueberries and a sliced fig. :)

Looking for Little Prep (under 5 minutes):

Mix 1 c. organic raisins

2/3 c. Walnuts

2/3 c. Almonds

2/3 c. Dates

Pulse in the food processor and form into 1/2 inch - 1 inch balls, roll in fresh organic shaved coconut. The best treat! Store in the fridge. (Makes about 20 balls)

Note: My whole family’s obsessed with these balls! It’s become our go-to “treat”.

Lastly, a go-to lunch or dinner…taken from my daughter’s yoga cookbook

3 Min Prep, 30 Min Baking Time:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees…

Slice 1 eggplant into 1/2 inch circles

Lay them on a lightly oiled pan (*don’t forget to use avocado oil at that temp)

Bake for 20 min.

Pull out of oven and top with tomato sauce, mozzarella, and fresh tomato and sprinkle oregano to taste.

Slide back into the oven for another 10 with the toppings.

Take out and top with fresh basil or a little salt + pepper. Delish!

Filling, gluten-free mini-pizzas!

Incase you missed it, I recently sat down (virtually) with MindMuse podcast host, Christie Turley, to dish out the highest leverage actions everyone can take today to improve brain function, eliminate brain fog, exhaustion, depression, anxiety… these are some of my best tricks/tips for entrepreneurs, busy parents and really anyone who needs to optimize their time because of their demanding life… wether it’s kiddos or fund-raising (or both!). Take a listen and see what tips you might wanna try to gain your competitive edge (or just be able to sleep through the night).

Thank you for meeting me here. Please share the love and pass this along to someone you care about.

With lots of love + gratitude,
