"Let Me Clear My... "

I’m so pumped to talk to you today about two major things going on…

First off…we’re nearing the end of the rainbow 🌈 in the food sense. Today we’re covering aquamarine. Did ya know it’s a color in the rainbow? OK, it may not fit the traditional “ROY.G.BIV” acronym we all know + love, but it’s one of the most important colors in the food system! (More on that below!)

Secondly, I recently had the chance to sit down with MindMuse host, Christie Turley, to dish out the most effective tips for brain + body health (that won’t take much effort) to give you the biggest ROI on your decision-making + well-being! Here’s the link to listen, today or watch, below.

Enjoy. :)

Now, for today’s color explosion…

Beyond the magic that exists in these rich deep colors, the nutrients runs deeper.

So let’s break-down this extraordinary color; Aquamarine.

Aquamarine = TRUTH

“Let Me Clear My Throat”

Dr. Minich has a lot of fascinating insight on this majestic color. “The TRUTH system dwells deep in our throats, where much activity takes place: talking, hearing, chewing, swallowing, and breathing. The messenger of our truths - our voice - allows us to express our views, opinions, and choices.

The TRUTH system also provides us a place where we can be vulnerably powerful. We make ourselves known through our personal truths. At your core, who are you and what do you stand for?”

Foods that support your TRUTH:  Sea Plants, Soups, Juices, Sauces/Dressings + (High-water) Fruits.

Sea Plants: Plants from the sea - like nori, agar, dulse, hijiki, arame, and kelp are excellent sources of nourishment for the thyroid gland. These magnificent plants are rich in minerals from the sea, including iodine, which is a nutrient that plays a role in proper functioning of the thyroid gland, helping regulate our metabolism.

Soups: Soups represent the fusion between an earth-based food and the element of water. The nice thing about soups is that they take a while to eat, creating more mindfulness.

Juices: The value in juice is all in the quality and how they are used. All store-bought juices will be unhealthy as they capture the sugar part of the fruit rather than the whole food. They can also provide a simple way to get colorful phytonutrients and moisten the throat. Think of pomegranate juice, beet juice and other whole-food-based juices for health benefits.

Sauces: Most store-bought sauces, dressings or marinades are laden with chemicals, dyes and sweeteners. However, using a little tahini (sesame seed butter) with a little oil (EVOO) and perhaps some lemon juice and herbs to drizzle over vegetables or a grilled chicken breast. Delish!

Fruits: watermelon, cucumber, cantaloupe, and grapes provide moisture to open the throat to make it easier to speak the truth. Astringent or sour fruits like lemon, lime, and kiwi pucker and activate the throat as well.

One’s philosophy is not best expressed in words; it is expressed in the choices one makes
— Eleanor Roosevelt

One simple way to incorporate more “TRUTH”… plan for a soup or smoothie as a one meal in your day. I opt for a breakfast smoothie packed full of watery foods like celery, cucumber, apples, greens, lemon!

How can you bring more of these foods into your meals? What foods are you already loving that are packed with nutrients?

Just by noticing your plate and the colors in front of you can start to shift your intintion to cleaner, healthier eating that nourishes you from the inside out.

Don’t forget to share this post with a friend. :) If you’re loving “what’s good” don’t miss out - join wellthier wednesday!

With love + gratitude,
