The FIRE + Your Body: 

The FIRE system is connected to the organs in your body responsible for transformative processes - in other words, the digestive system, including the esophagus, stomach, pancreas, small intestines, liver and gallbladder. 

Your FIRE system is the center of your physical relationship with food. It represents the exchange of food messages and your body’s ability to decode that information into signals. 

The nutrients signal a transformation throughout your body known as metabolism, or the sum of building + breakdown reactions. 

On a cellular level, this center is linked to your mitochondria, or your cellular powerhouses, whose job it is to extract the raw energy from the starting materials supplied by foods. 

On a physical level, people with balanced FIRE systems tend to have robust digestion and metabolism and they are often of medium build + average weight. These people are the ones who can eat “almost anything” and get away with it. They tend to be able to digest relatively large portions of food in one sitting. People with healthy FIRE systems have energy endurance; they are usually physically and mentally active.

The perfect summer recipe to boost your FIRE: 

Sunny Corn Salad

  • 6-8 ears fresh organic corn or 3 cups frozen organic corn kernels

  • 1 large red bell pepper, diced

  • 3 green onions, cut into 1/4 inch pieces

  • 1/8 c extra virgin olive oil

  • 2 tbsp. lemon juice

  • 1-2 cloves garlic, minced 

  • 1/4 c cilantro 

  • 1/8 tsp. Chili powder

  • 1-2 jalapeños, diced

  • Salt + pepper to taste
